LAST WEEK AT WLIT -- THIS WEEK IN THE HEADLINES

At last Wednsday's study circle, we discussed the question, "Is the economy heading for a 'crash'?" featuring this article from the September 20 International Herald Tribune. Central to the question is what will happen to the US dollar with it's enormous balance of payments deficit. Here's some stuff that's come up in the blogosphere in the past few days. Daniel Drezner asks, "The big question that watchers of global finance have been asking in recent years is: what happens when the Asian central banks stop buying dollars?" Brad de Long adds "It's a little more complicated."
